Sandhya K Jayasekara
I obtained my Bachelor of Science(Special) Degree in Microbiology with a First-class honour (GPA 3.83 of 4) in 2015 from the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. I started my career in Microbiology as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Microbiology of the same university. Since May 2016 up to date, I am attached to the Bioenergy & Soil Ecosystems Research Project of National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Kandy, Sri Lanka as a Research Assistant. Currently, I am registered as a full-time student at Post Graduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka for a Master of Philosophy(M.Phil) Degree by research. My research interests are mainly focussing on Environmental and Applied Microbiology.My ongoing research is "Microbial cellulases: The application in biofuel production and other value-added products and processes".I am extremely interested in conducting and expanding research activities on potential applications of microorganisms including fungi for the benefit of human and environment.
